THE SNOOK BOOK OF RECOMMENDATIONS

HIKING

With the Blue Ridge Parkway 10 minutes away, you have an array of Appalachian Adventures at your doorstep.

Our favorite hikes:

Craggy Gardens: 40 min. drive

Mt. Mitchell:  1 hr. drive

Linville Falls:  70 min. drive

Dupont State Forest Falls: 1 hr. drive

Romantic Asheville: A great resource for local hikes (and all things Asheville):

For more of a stroll:

Warren Wilson College has a system of beautiful trails right next door.  There will be a map in the printed version of the SV Manual in your rental.

BEERTOWN

With upwards of 30 breweries just in Asheville alone and twice as many within spitting distance, there's an embarrassment of riches.  Here's our favorites.

The 2 Big Brewers:

Sierra Nevada (more stately) and New Belgium (more funky).  Sierra has a ginormous restaurant and you'll often find a food truck on the campus of New Belgium.  Both have super fun and absolutely free tours with tastings, but BOOK IN ADVANCE

Breweries with food:

Wicked Weed, Funkatorium (Wicked's Sour and Barrel Taps), Burial, Whistlehop (down the road in Fairview with rotating food trucks plus putt putt), Asheville Brewing Company (with a Brew n’ View), Hillman Beer

Our favorite:

Highland (the closest to Snookville and the oldest in Asheville, it has an indoor, outdoor, and over 21 rooftop space, with rotating food trucks)

FOODIE YUM YUMS

We're here by way of Chicago, so we know a foodie scene when we taste one and Asheville never ceases to amaze.  Here are our favorites.

East Asheville: Rendezvous (French), Copper Crown (neighborhood bistro)

No reservation, less $:

Downtown: Chai Pani (Indian Street Food), Tupelo Honey (awesome biscuits), White Duck (tacos), S&W Market (Food Court)

River Arts District: White Duck (tacos), 12 Bones (BBQ)

North Asheville: Homegrown (counter order, best fried chicken), Nine Mile (Jamaican), Luella’s (BBQ)

West Asheville: Botiwalla (Indian street food), Haywood Common (upscale bar food, takes reservations), Sunny Point Cafe (great brunch, prepare to wait for a table most days)
